Motivation for today

I am excited about my fundraising efforts for the National Walk for Epilepsy. We are at $440 so far for our goal of $500! Jamie and I are so excited. We have some other teammates too, like Manda! You can still donate now or purchase a T-shirt and donate to the cause and help spread awareness!

I appreciate everyone's love and support that I have received over the years as I struggled with Epilepsy and I can not wait to spend that time with others who have something in common with me.

Family time

Saturday was the best spent time so far this month! Bri and I got a slow start to the day as we lounged for a little bit enjoying the morning together. His niece and sister are in town so we took Little Caesars Hot-N-Ready out to his parents and got some baby/toddler time.

photo (4)This is my niece and nephews old bike that I gave her earlier this year. Got to love the helmet and riding in the house!

As we waited for the Marathon to start Ella and I chilled with Minnie and Mickey.

Finally the Marathon was on its way….we had a delay as the satellite was not working for the first few minutes. I was excited to watch both men and women now that I know a few of them now. Thanks to HRG I got a full rundown of their back grounds. I was cheering for Kara and Ryan of course and was happy to see them both make the team. I felt so bad for Rhitz because he closed that gap so much in the last few miles but missed it by 8 seconds. If only the marathon was 26.4 yesterday right?

It was awesome to have the whole family sit around the tv for a few hours focused on what most of us in the room love! Afterwards it was quickly changed to football by the guys.

Manda, Robyn, The baby, Dud and I got bundled up for a run. We started at the house which means we were going to end on the .7 something uphill. It is the first major hill I was going to do since I started running again. I took it easy up the hill but made it all the way (except the little stop at the bottom) back to the house without stopping. I am proud of my 10something pace up the hill because nothing hurt! The baby wasn’t too fond of the run because we forgot to grab a bink when we left. But we still love her! Smile

Today was a laundry day, organizing, and lots of fun errands this Am. I got some good deals and Old Navy, Dicks sporting, and Sams club!! Now I am going to go finish watching my NEW fav NY team ball some ball! The score is 20-10 at the moment (I used to be a HUGE Bills fan growing up when they were good)

QOTD: If you won 10 tickets to the superbowl would you pick family or friends or a mixture to go with you? Would you pick people who like football or would that not matter? Bri and I had this talk today. He would want to take people who knew and liked football only. I would take my friends and family no matter what!

Safety

Workout today: Got up and went to the gym!!! Yea on a Sat. morning so happy about that! I was there about 7:40 got on the bike for 15mins then hit the weights for 40mins. Did legs and abs and it felt great.

It has been a rough week for all runners out there. We have all been reading and and following the story on SUAR about her dear friend and cousin. I was shocked and was stopped in my tracks when it all happened. I live out on a country road and I run from my house all the time. I have to drive 4miles into town to get on town roads or near sidewalks. It is no big deal at all to make that drive if it means that would make me safer. I also own a treadmill so if I want to get a quick run in lately I just hope on that.

In addition to SUAR there have been 3 or so attempts to kidnap students on the way home or to school. There is a picture of the suspect and car out but I have not heard anything beyond that. But I have not been out alone all week and have been watching around our school carefully.

Due to my seizures I have also taken other precautions in case anything happens while out on a run. I purchased a Road ID for my shoe. It has 3 phone numbers, my name, town I live in, and that I have epilepsy. I originally purchased this if I was running on my own and the chance something went wrong. It is nothing new to me that am EMT would need info on me.

For Christmas this year I asked for the skinny wrist ID from Road ID. I am not always wearing my running sneakers and wanted to go a step further to make sure my medical issues were known. I got a bright pink one so that it was visible to an EMT.

I do not plan on running alone for awhile. I have made sure I was with my family for all my recent runs.

My thoughts and prayers are with SUAR and her family today.

QOTD: Do you run alone and what do you do for safety when running alone?

Tid Bits

1. I broke the water streak already. When Bri is actually around in the morning and I have someone besides a cat to talk to I end up going way off schedule and get to work about 10mins later if not more and forget about half of my stuff. SO...I am drinking my water now instead of when I woke up. I also have the hiccups. I am trying to eat my bagel and I can't because I already almost choked on a piece when I hiccuped with it in my mouth.

2. I want to get back into my 6 week Abs DVD by Jillian. I dug it out the other day. I would like to do it before work now I just need to wake. my. butt. up. I think I need to put an ugly pick next to my phone/alarm so when I turn it off I am reminded why it is going off!

3. Day 4 of assessments....ugh.....Hopefully we finish up the worst part today which is DIBELS....Take my word for it you are ready to claw your eyes out at the end of the day. We have done a grade each day so far. Today we finish 2nd bc they have 5 classes so it is taking longer and hopefully get in 4th grade. Tomorrow is a make up day and I have 3 to do. Pray that that is only 20mins!!

4. Last night I decided to make something new for dinner. We used to buy bagged stir fry from the frozen section but there just isnt any really good ones anymore. So I wanted to try to make my own. I heated up some shrimp in the pan then added frozen peas, beans, carrots and water chestnuts (Bri only eats water chestnuts..Oops).. I added sweet and sour sauce and Voila!

5. I had to go to the dentist yesterday to have a filling filled. When you hear the dentist say oh no we have a problem I don't think I knew how to react. It was right after he did the drilling. I guess he said he thoguht he drill too far and hit the nerve. Ends up he was right above it but VERY close. So he put a special medicine on it before the filling. OH GREAT! Well my jaw is very tight and sore today not cool!

QOTD: Have you ahve any bad Dentist experiences?

Mega Workout

Yesterday was nuts. I felt in a daze the whole training day. It was an overload of info all lecture style. The guy showed a type of container for the interactive white board and all these cool things but took 2 hours until he showed us how first. So here I am with my laptop in front of me panicking that I miss how to make it. Finally the girl next to me raised her hand and said I hope this isn't a stupid question but did I miss how to make these? Thank Goodness I wasn't alone!

So I wasn't as fried as Monday just confused. I also have to create a flipchart using 2 of the containers we learned. I have one page done so far!

For my workout yesterday I headed to the gym right after school. I got on the bike for 20mins and got in 7.5 miles. I loved the setting I had it on too. It took my HR the whole time and it kept getting harder until I met my 80% for my age then it kept it at that difficulty so I stayed at the 80%. SO for me I had to get my HR to 153 and it took about 5-7mins to get it there but then I was dying for the rest of the time. Heather said I was a sweaty mess when she joined me at 14mins. It was great!

I then lifted for about30-35mins and got in some stretches with Heather before I headed home. I jumped on my TM when I got home and ran for 30mins. I got in 3.3miles there too! SO it was a successful day unlike yesterday where I slept instead.

Today I started the Water challenge from over at Sparkles and Bugs. You have to try to drink a glass of water first thing in the morning (check). Then try to drink throughout the day (I have my bottle with me). So here I go! Hopefully I can get my potty breaks during all the testing today!

QOTD: Do you think you drink enough water during the day??

Back in the day.....

Do you remember when you were in Elementary School and the whole school had mid year assessments. The reading teachers would come around and check everyone. Well starting yesterday until the 20th that is what I will be doing. I had maybe 10mins to eat and not do anything yesterday. Any other min of the day I was either assessing or scoring.  I was so tired that I bought Arby's for dinner instead of cooking. By 8pm I was in my bed with my book. I did not get on the TM because I had eaten 2 roast beef sandwiches and tater tots that I threw in the oven. I may have also had a piece of cake. BUT I WAS STARVING!!

Today I kind of luck out. Myself and another reading teacher have a training so we can not help out with the assessments. But the training isn't anything fun either. It is on the Interactive White Board but it is ALL lecture which I zone out and get online instead.

I have set up a gym date with Heather today and plan on getting in a nice long workout. Bri was called in for jury duty this afternoon (after he worked all night long!) so I will come home get dinner for him and he will fall right to sleep around 6pm I am sure.

QOTD: Do you remember the Title I or Reading teachers testing? I do because I always qualified due to speech which eventually was solved with a retainer getting my teeth where they needed to be. Yea yea embarrassing fact.
