Bday round 2

This weekend I was headed home for my nephews 4th bday.

Little did I know there was a big surprise waiting for me at the party. Bri and his family made the drive up to celebrate my bday as well. It was a surprise party and I loved it!! So we celebrated my nephew turning 4, my BIL turning 40 and myself turning 30. It was a great day with great people!!

In other news I had my first DNS this weekend. I did not go to my goal half marathon today. I have not run further than 3 miles in one run since I hurt my groin water skiing. So it was a hard decision to not go to my favorite race. But a nice surprise party helped me get through the weekend instead :).

Best start to my bday weekend

Today I requested to do anything but cut wood and stain our log home. My request was granted with the help of Manda, Heather and Momma. At 5am Manda and I headed to the Hot Air Balloon Festival! It started later than expected but ended up being awesome!

Afterwards we joined up with Heather at the Beagle Club as the puppies chased bunnies. I never did see a bunny but they were going nuts at some points. (Sorry I was too busy drinking hot cocoa at this point that no pictures were taken)

Then...at 10:30 am we met up with Momma to hit the mall! We did not return until 4:30pm! We shopped until we dropped but my day did not end there! Manda and I then returned to the balloon festival to see some other attractions. There was an airshow at dusk, an all womens sky diving team show and also glow where the balloons all lit up once it was dark out.

Overall....I LOVED my day out. Plus when I got home we had a huge pile of firewood and I am not sore from it LOL :)  Thank ladies best day ever!

It happened again...

This weekend was overall very productive. Bri and I worked hard re-staining our house. It is a log home so the logs on the exterior need done every few years. It is a long process but we made a big dent this weekend. I also attempted to run a race with my leg still sore from my water skiing split. It was a very slow race for me. I have never seen a 9:XX mile pace in a 5k race...not even 10k or 15k. I found really quick that downhills are not pretty and I have to pull back even more. The pain traveled from the back of my knee all the way up to my Thutt (thigh/butt). At the finish line I made a very tough decision...I am not going to try to race the half marathon on Sept. 23rd. I know I still have time but a 5k hurt I can't imagine 13.1 miles of hills. I know my leg would be worse afterwards even if I got through it.

I know I will have great friends just like Jess while I take yet another injury break from running.
